The Accredited Buyer Representative

The Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR®) designation is the benchmark of excellence in buyer representation. This coveted designation is awarded to real estate professionals who have met certain educational and practical experience criteria specified by the Real Estate BUYER'S AGENT Council (REBAC) of the National Association of REALTORS®.

The criteria are:

Complete comprehensive, REBAC-approved courses in buyer representation;
Pass a written examination;
Demonstrate experience by successfully representing buyers in a minimum of five real estate transactions within three years;
Receive recommendations from two buyer clients;
Be a member in good standing with the National Association of REALTORS®.

Less than 4 percent of all real estate licensees nationwide are certified as Accredited Buyer Representatives, and NAR adds only a small number of new designees each year.

Look for those professionals who proudly display the ABR® designation. Know that they are experts in the field of buyer representation.
